Tekken Tag Tournament HD - TTT 1 HD

Tekken Tag Tournament 1 HD -- character select screen

This is a PlayStation 3 game that includes 2 different Tag Games; 1 is a HD remake of a PS2 game and the other a partial demo version of the then upcoming PS3 Tekken Tag 2 game and then 1 full length Tekken Animation Movie.

One game is a HD remake fighting video game and the other is a partial early access version of the next version of the same "type" of game Tag 2 - TTT 2.  The games are entirely different and the HD remake is new (as an HD Remake) and different due to being made HD here with all characters unlocked by default so don't have unlock them from gameplay, so 1 new and 1 sample of the then upcoming new Tag 2 game TTT 2 and an Animation Movie.  So a good purchase at the time.

With this game Tekken Hybrid - it's TTT 1 HD and a you preview (Demo) of TTT 2.  You can see the "visual" graphical update that Tag 1 got from PS2 to PS3 HD and how much more improved Tag 2 is as an entirely new Tag game (soon to be released) with new characters and modes.  So same basic game idea (Tag), many of the same characters from Tag 1 are in Tag 2 when it was finally released and updated moves for all characters, but Tag 1 to Tag HD is the same game, so Tag 2 is entirely different games from Tag 1, while this Hybrid game has a HD remake of Tag 1 that is worth the play if you like the game you can also play 4 of the characters from Tag 2 in the "Prologue" game demo.

Otherwise not really worth it since Tag 2 is so much better of a game just buy that.  And with only 4 characters in Tag 2 Prologue it is not worth the play to play Prologue here when you can just play the full actual Tag 2 game.  Leaving the Tag 1 HD remake and movie.  Movie is not worth it all Tekken story nonsense with various characters showing up but it is all action movie drama whatever and doesn't have a plot you can follow just jumps from one scene to another and another then it is over. (I don't actually remember it, just that it was not interesting like watching a cut scene in a game, when will it be over).  Movie is an animation movie that is Tekken based if you know the past games and story of them some you would understand the "idea" you are seeing on screen with the animation nonsense which does look good.  It is also able to be watched in 3D if you had a 3D TV.  Save yourself the brain rot and never watch it just look up some images and you get the idea.  Your understanding of it will not improve watching it in CGI live action animation.

Tag 2 Prologue - The 2 girls from the movie you can play.

Tag 2 Prologue - 1 of the 2 guys you can play.

Tekken Tag Tournament HD (2011) is a remake of the PS2 game (1999).  If you want to play some good classic Tekken this game is fun.  However, it does not allow "analog" control which is the "thumb sticks" so only the D-Pad or an arcade stick or fight stick controller.  Kind of unbelievable it doesn't let you use the thumb sticks in Tag 1.  On PS3 you can hold down the middle button and bring up a menu if you are playing an old PS1 game (or others) like King of Fighters classic PS1 games on the PSN Store and assign the thumb stick as a analog controller but not for Tekken Hybrid or in the game's menus.

Movie

Playable Roster in the Prologue features a limited roster of just 4 playable characters, complete with their exclusive Blood Vengeance movie outfits:
1.)  Alisa Bosconovitch -- The robot.
2.)  Ling Xiaoyu (School uniform) -- The small girl but I think is like 30 in the games lore.
3.)  Devil Jin -- the popular character from the Tekken series of game.
4.)  Devil Kazuya - the other popular character except not always a devil.

    GAMEPLAY MECHAINCS:
Tekken Tag is an active "tag" game with 2 players switching around on the fly not waiting for one player to lose so that the next character can join like in King of Fighters xv or xiv.  Mortal Kombat 1 on PS5 uses a 2nd character but only for one move, push button they run in do the "grab" move basically and run away.  Here in these 2 tag games its active switching all the time you press switch (or in Tag 2 perform a bound move and auto switch) and they come in running to help with a combo or grab or just switch.  You can be losing health, and swap, then swap back again later if one is about to die.  You can only die with 1 character so need to swap out, Tag before you die no fight till die.  In the actual TTT2 game released later you can also select to play as only 1 character but you don't get any added health which would have been nice to have for online play.

So basically it is just TTT1 HD (November 2011), bundled with a movie and preview of TTT2 (2011 arcades) (2012 consoles in America).  If you like Tekken you'll like the HD remake here but if you like Tekken and play with thumb sticks you won't like it for very long.  While the PS2 and PS3 d-pads are good for this type of game play it is taxing on your thumbs.  I found a controller back then long ago that lets you use the analog sticks as if they were the d-pads and assign the left stick.  Good luck with that.

Tag 1 HD

The original PS2 tag game that was remade in HD here in "Tekken Hybrid."

The other PS3 "Tekken Tag Tournament 2" game
that followed this "Tekken Hybrid" PS3 game having the preview of it here in Tekken Tag 2 "Prologue."

So you can have fun with Tag 1 HD remake in Hybrid here but its "clunky" compared to Tag 2, sort of old looking, since its a remake of a PS2 game while the PS3 game is superior graphically and full of content when it was finally released while this Prologue is just a demo with 4 characters.  Tag 1 is a game from Tekken 2 Tekken 3 era of games in a way which were PS1 games.  Tekken 4 was released in 2001.  The original Tag in 1999.  Point is TTT1 HD plays like a newer version of Tekken 3.

For example of fun to have in Tekken Tag 1 HD pick the big robot Jack-2 and the other clone of Jack-2, Prototype Jack (or Gun Jack), each has their own moves with some shared moves.  So a forward forward punch with Jack is a upper cut or whatever while with Gun Jack it is an extended forward punch where his arm telescopes forward.  Later in Tag 2 a few characters were clones of others but mostly the same with only one move different if at all basically.  In either game the health bar doesn't last to long.
In Tag 2 the combo moves that could be done with the teammate made for some crazy combos having the Tag 2 "bound" feature, where you overhand punch the opponent down into the ground so they bounce upwards, and you can swap in a new character.  Also could grab them and the teammate will jump in combo grab move.  I haven't played Tag 1 HD here in so long I don't recall if it has bound or is just swap maybe with combo grabs.  Tag 2 also has a "combot" you can assign moves to.  Not all moves but a lot of them to make a custom character of the robot.  Had to complete some challenges to unlock more moves and could update it as unlocked more.  Could have been more to it if they make a 3rd version would likely have a more elaborate custom character combot with all moves.  Combots job in Tag 2 was to teach you the game through the move challenges and so it was limited to a handful of punches and kicks about 7 choices max.  Combot wasn't in Tag 1 or HD.  He originally appeared in Tekken 4 like Mokujin to mimic 1 characters moves.  Then in Tag 2 he had "Fight Lab" training mode.

34 character base roster from the original arcade and PlayStation 2 release. Unlike the original versions where select characters were locked, every fighter is fully unlocked and playable right from the start.
