Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite for the PS4 is a 2017 crossover tag-team fighting game that pits iconic heroes and villains from the Marvel Universe against characters from Capcom's video game franchises (such as Street Fighter, Mega Man, and Resident Evil).
Developed by Capcom, it is the sixth main installment in the long-running Marvel vs. Capcom series. Instead of the traditional 3-on-3 fights seen in earlier games, Infinite scales combat down to 2-on-2 battles. It removes the classic character-assist system in favor of an active, tag-based combo mechanic that lets you swap fighters instantly to create continuous chains.
The game also introduces Infinity Stones into the fighting mechanics. Players select one of six stones (Power, Time, Space, Reality, Mind, or Soul) before a match, each granting unique, game-changing abilities and stat boosts to help turn the tide of combat.
Beyond local and online multiplayer modes, it features a cinematic story mode. The narrative follows characters from both dimensions uniting to stop Ultron Sigma, an original villain created when Ultron (Marvel) and Sigma (Mega Man X) fuse and attempt to eradicate all biological life.
