What Is -- Tekken 6

What Is Tekken 6

Tekken 6 is a PS3 and Xbox 360 game which has the same 3D fighting style of gameplay from previous Tekken's 1v1.  3D meaning side stepping basically but the stages are not 1 view it is 360 camera as the match moves along and players move around on the stage.  There is also a PSP version now available on PS4 and PS5 (link) to review here.
Tekken 6 for PS4 & PS5 is a PSP Remake

The game also features a deep customization option for character clothing.  Each having unique outfits and items but also some shared items amongst them all.  As you played the game got to unlock more stuff.  Had a replay feature also so you could watch your online matches with a slot for like 10-20 of them.  I don't think single player had any replays.  You could see character usage stats.

Added a few new characters to the roster.

The other mode was "Scenario Campaign" which had a lot of places to roam around beating up AI in a 3D walk around (run around) "Beat'em Up" game which unlocked clothing customization items.  You could replay easily didn't have to follow a strict route to complete it (mostly, if I recall) could bounce around the map to select different routes to play different levels and in the end of stages was a typical character boss fight but now with an assistant on your side to help.  Some minor story was involved with an introductory text pop up on screen then off you go.  Same with a boss fight there would be a text pop up maybe a few pop ups but never got old clicking through them endlessly was a pretty quick yadda yadda whatever beat'em up.  Stages were kind of long like walking to the end of the street long, around the corner on some, while some others more elaborate, 1 had a level with drop through floors that kept breaking once you got to that section.  You get to select any character as an A.I. character to play with you.

Scenario Campaign with Law and Paul.

Over time your custom characters can start to take on a weird look as you equip more and more items for the perks that each offers like more health.  So the image below is a low rank play as a high rank play through would have players wearing a lot of custom items.  As in your health bar might be 1 bar by default so add a certain pant or shirt and get 2 bars.  There is a difficulty curve so that you can fail but it is not the most difficult thing ever.

                                                          Scenario Campaign level select.

Has a weird way of selecting enemies not recommended if I recall to play with a joystick makes it odd to get around (can't use back and downback moves since it makes you walk backwards, which you could potentially do those moves if locked in on an enemy or not it wouldn't do the move, I don't exactl recall) better to use the analog thumb stick.  I think it auto detects the nearest enemy but you can swap what is selected and or also just run around I forget exactly what happened but it was something but not go from 1 to next kind of targeting you could free roam.  It was that you couldn't do certain moves because of the way the game played it became impossible to do a down back I guess it was cause you just walked that way instead.  You could pick up pipes and swing them a variety of times before they are auto dropped from impacts I think it was also flame throwers.  Fun mode be better if they perfected the walking and targeting it is a little odd like not a full stand alone game release game kind of odd but works fine here.  Doesn't matter often in a very small space so just hitting whatever is in front of you then walking to next area repeat run into someone along the way, then a few larger open spaces here and there.

Tekken 3 had a similar campaign as did Tekken 4 Force Mode, and Tekken 5 Devil Within mode.

Scenario Campaign Lili and Alisa.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 came next with 2v2 gamplay, but also could be 2v1 or 1v1. [link]

Then next came Tekken Revolution on the PS3 was a download only version of the game that introduced the character Eliza to the series.  Revolution had a free to play a few matches a day then if you wanted to buy coins could pay to play more using a coin to start match making.  Revolution also introduced a weird character level up level progression system that allowed you to set a number between 1 and 100 with 3 different skills, so you could be all health bar at 100 which would give you more health bar in a match, or more power, or more stamina I think were the options, or you go balanced and make them all 50%.  When you met a player with a character like Paul with 100 power you were in for a quick fight but it took time to earn the rank up to use for the adjustable meter set in the main menu in the character screens.

TTT2 didn't sell well apparently it only sold 3 million copies, which is less than expected by its creators making a failure for no particular reason other than sales as it was a good game.  So maybe they were trying to make some money with Tekken Revolution coin system?  I don't know.  You couldn't buy Tekken Revolution on disc or own it, was only a digital download and one day it was ended so you couldn't play it anymore.

Point is from Tekken 6, to TTT2 to Tekken Revolution to Street Fighter Cross-or-X Tekken been a lot of variety to the game over the years, up to Tekken 7 with its rage drives and rage arts and now more of that with Tekken 8 and the "heat system."

from Campaign mode not actual fighter in the menu to select but can be controlled in the scenario campaign mode and you might be able to find a way to play it verse a character as weird as that would be taking up the entire screen shooting the gun and missiles or rockets and stomping.  Might have been a hack I saw someone do it or it is playable, otherwise you can get it to run around a scenario campaign level, not sure if it's limited to the 1 level it is already found on as a sub boss enemy to fight at the start going down the long hallway of glass windows.]
